Audition process underway
Following the sad news of the 2020 season of “La Rondine” being postponed to late 2021, we are excited to announce the first of two productions for 2021, Mozart’s “La Clemenza di Tito”.
This will be an entirely COVID safe production that we are taking special precautions with to ensure the safety of our audience, artists, collaborators and volunteers. The audition process for this production is already underway. It has been fantastic to see so many talented applications come in. We can’t wait to announce the cast for this production.

Arts Engagement during the covid-19 pandemic
The covid-19 pandemic has impacted our daily lives in many ways including how we engage with arts and creativity. Necessary restrictions around public gatherings and travel have resulted in the closure of cultural venues and cancellation or postponement of events and programs.
To gain insights into how Australians are engaging with the arts in covid-19 lockdown, the Australia Council commissioned Lonergan Research to explore this topic as part of their regular Omnibus Survey.

Here are some interesting figures from the Australia Council for the ARTS survey;
• Since the start of the lockdown, just over a third of Australians have engaged with arts events online (34%) – music events are the most popular (20%) followed by visual arts and craft (16%) and book or literary events (14%)
• More than a quarter of Australians say their creativity has increased since the lockdown – 27% feel more creative than before the lockdown began.
• Audiences are increasingly comfortable to attend performance events

National Opera “In the Studio” series
In lieu of our planned Masterclass, we invited five local singers of varied experience to take part in the first National Opera “In the Studio” series in May this year. Sarah Darnley-Stuart, Emma Mauch, Katrina Wiseman, Thomas Nolte and Madeline Anderson performed alongside pianist Ella Luhtasaari for Peter Coleman-Wright AO and took instruction and critique from him on a range of technical and artistic elements. We have condensed these 45 minute sessions down to approximately three minute videos to be released to the public in mid October. Keep an eye out for those in your inbox next month!
